In 2020, more than 50% of Albany students qualified for free or reduced price lunches. This means that more than 5,000 Albany students began the last school year while living close to or at the poverty level. With unemployment levels reaching record highs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our students need our support more now than ever before.

In Albany, our Fill the Canoe distribution partner is FACT (Families and Communities Together). FACT is the Health and Social Service program for Greater Albany Public Schools. By connecting vulnerable students and families with available community services and resources, FACT empowers Albany kids to succeed as they pursue their education. Distributing school supplies raised by the community during Fill the Canoe is just one of the many ways FACT achieves this mandate.

As Albany students begin the 2021-2022 school year, they are facing new challenges that come with unique requirements. Your donations will help FACT acquire the necessary resources to support Albany students throughout the coming school year.
