In 2020, nearly 70% of Federal Way students qualified for free or reduced price lunches. This means that nearly 14,000 Federal Way students were living close to or at the poverty level at the beginning of the last school year. With unemployment levels reaching record highs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our students need our support more now than ever before.

Our Fill the Canoe distribution partner is Communities In Schools of Federal Way-Highline. CIS Federal Way-Highline provides an incredibly valuable link between students and families in need and the community resources that exist to support them. They are fiercely dedicated to helping students stay in school and complete their education. Every year, CIS Federal Way-Highline distributes thousands of pounds of school supplies donated by the community during Fill the Canoe to those students who need it most.

As Federal Way students begin the 2021-2022 school year, they are facing new challenges that come with unique requirements. Your donations will help CIS Federal Way-Highline acquire the necessary resources to support Federal Way students throughout the coming school year.
